Das Projekt A-X-AMUN bedeutet AN UNKNOWN AGONY MIXED UNDER NOISE, welches Artist Khalid Ax im Jahr 2016 in Leben gerufen hat. Khalid Ax wohnt gegenwärtig in Süddeutschland und hat ägyptische als auch amerikanische Wurzeln. Seine seelischen und psychischen Verletzungen verarbeitet er in seiner Musik. Ich persönlich habe noch nie Electronic,Industrial und Gothic mit einer Mischung aus orientalischen Klängen gehört, jedoch fand ich es auf Anhieb faszinierend.

Schon der Opener ‚Abyss Of Mind‘ beginnt mystisch und entführt in eine düstere Zwischenwelt, aus der es kein entrinnen gibt. Der Refrain „Locked up again no release for this soul, locked up again not one shred of control, locked up again on the blind side of mind, learn how to live, with the beast that slumpers inside “ brennt sich sehr schnell ins Gedächtnis.

‚Bothered‘ bedient sich an EBM und Dark Wave Elementen. M1Nd7Ap3 mischt orientalische Musik gekonnt mit Electronica und bildet, laut meiner Recherche, das Fundament des gesamten Werkes.

Khalid Ax verwendete auf der Platte VST Plugins, welche ägyptische und fernöstlichen Instrumente wie Oud, Kaman, Nay, Sitar, Tar und Tampura erklingen lassen. Khalid Ax deckt eine große Bandbreite mit klarem und verzerrtem Gesang, sowieso Growlings und Schreien ab. Meine persönlichen Favoriten sind ‚Vasall‘ und ‚Detonate‘. Die Lyrics von Vasall kann man mehrdeutig verstehen: „Alleine bist du nur ein Nichts, nur in deinem Schwarm verhältst du dich wie eine Bitch, in deinem Leben hinterfragst du nichts, wiederholst alles ohne nachzudenken, spuckst auf alles ohne Respekt zu schenken, du bist nicht fähig selbst zu denken, dein eigenes Schiff wirst du schon selbst versenken!“ Ich denke, das Wort Bitch kann in diesem Zusammenhang für mehrere Personengruppen gelten. Für Rassisten, Personen des öffentlichen Lebens, Politiker, oberflächliche Menschen, etc.

‚Detonate‘ bietet ein fesselndes und geheimnisvolles Intro mit rockigen Riffs. Ich denke, deswegen ist es auch eines meiner Favoriten geworden, da dieser härteren, gitarrenlastigen Sound aufweist. Aber das kommt natürlich auf den jeweiligen eigenen Geschmack der Person an, die sich ‚Origin‘ anhört.

‚Paranoid‘, ‚Vasall‘ und ‚Sds‘ sind von Khalid Ax auf deutsch geschrieben worden, alle anderen Tracks sind in englischer Sprache gehalten.

Khalid Ax hat sich für das Projekt A-X-AMUN musikalische Unterstützung geholt. Alyx Weaver singt die Female Vocals auf ‚Cycle of Survival‘, Abdullah Negm spielt Gitarre auf ‚Vasall‘ und Leon Xero wirkte instrumental bei ‚The 7‘ mit und war für das Mixing und Mastering der gesamten Platte verantwortlich.

Origin erschien unter dem Label ‚Danse Macabre Records‘, welches Bruno Kramm (Das Ich) in 1989 gegründet hat.

Wer A-X-AMUNs düstere und bizarren Musikvideos noch nicht gesehen hat, sollte auch hier einschalten. Auch hier zeigt sich Khalid Ax als Multitalent, da er nicht nur die Musik schreibt, sondert auch das Artwork und die Videos selbst kreiert.

The project A-X-AMUN stands for AN UNKNOWN AGONY MIXED UNDER NOISE, which artist Khalid Ax brought to life in 2016. Khalid Ax currently lives in southern Germany and has Egyptian as well as American roots. He processes his emotional and psychological injuries into his music. Personally, I have never heard Electronic, Industrial and Gothic with a mixture of oriental sounds, but I found it fascinating right away.

Already the opener ‚Abyss Of Mind‘ starts mystically and takes you into a dark in-between world, from which there is no escape. The refrain „Locked up again no release for this soul, locked up again not one shred of control, locked up again on the blind side of mind, learn how to live, with the beast that slumpers inside“ burns itself into the memory very quickly.

‚Bothered‘ uses EBM and Dark Wave elements. M1Nd7Ap3 skillfully mixes oriental music with electronica and, according to my research, forms the fundament of the entire work.

Khalid Ax used VST plugins on the record, which produce the sound of Egyptian and Far Eastern instruments such as oud, kaman, nay, sitar, tar and tampura. Khalid Ax has a wide range of clear and distorted vocals, as well as growls and screams. My personal favourites are ‚Vasall‘ and ‚Detonate‘. The lyrics of Vasall can be understood ambiguously: „Alone you’re just nothing, only in your swarm you act like a bitch, in your life you don’t question anything, repeat everything without thinking, spit on everything without giving respect, you’re not capable of thinking for yourself, you’ll sink your own ship by yourself!“ I think the word bitch can apply to several groups of people in this context. To racists, public figures, politicians, superficial people, etc.

‚Detonate‘ features a captivating and mysterious intro with rocking riffs. I think that’s why it has become one of my favourites, as this one has a harder, guitar-heavy sound. But of course that depends on the individual taste of the person listening to ‚Origin‘.

‚Paranoid‘, ‚Vasall‘ and ‚Sds‘ were written by Khalid Ax in German, all other tracks are in English.

Khalid Ax enlisted musical support for the A-X-AMUN project. Alyx Weaver sings the female vocals on ‚Cycle of Survival‘, Abdullah Negm plays guitar on ‚Vasall‘ and Leon Xero contributed instrumentally to ‚The 7‘ and was responsible for mixing and mastering the entire record.

Origin was released under the label ‚Danse Macabre Records‘, which Bruno Kramm (Das Ich) founded in 1989.
