Caitlin Stokes hatte mir nicht zu viel in unserem Interview versprochen, als Sie erwähnte, dass ‚Blood In the Disco‘ so einige Überaschungen bereit halten wird. Als ich die ersten Töne von ‚The Taste‘ hörte, wusste ich schon da wird etwas ganz Großes kommen. Wenn man an Gothic denkt, denkt man im ersten Moment dass es nicht einfach ist das Ganze tanzbar zu machen, ohne dass es eventuell eintönig klingt. Mit ‚Blood In The Disco‘ ist Corlyx (Caitlin Stokes (Gesang) und Brandon Ashley (Gitarre)) dies gelungen, etwas Einzigartiges zu kreieren, was düster ist, die Sinne beflügelt, in mancher Hinsicht auch sexy und erotisch angehaucht ist und dabei nicht an Klasse verliert.

‚Atrophy‘ zeichnet sich als klarer Dancefloor-Klassiker aus und animiert sicher jeden Tanzmuffel zum Bewegen. Hier wird auch der erste Gothic-Hauch versprüht und verspricht schon als Vorbote, dass da noch viel Fulminantes folgen wird.

‚Echo‘ ist die erste Singleauskopplung aus dieser Platte und besticht durch powervollen Gesang von Caitlin Stokes im Refrain und 80 er Jahre-Elementen.

‚Raindrops‘ ist ein großartiger Song mit elektronischen Dance-Klängen, der zusammen mit Marc von Massive Ego aufgenommen wurde. Da es Massive Ego leider nicht mehr gibt, ist dieser Track eine wundervolle Erinnerung an die Zusammenarbeit von Corlyx und Massive Ego.

‚The Taste‘. ,,I think your are really bad“ ertönt es aus den Boxen. Provokant, lasziv und mit Stil singt Caitlin Stokes diese Zeilen, die den Song ‚The Taste‘ einleiten. Dancemoves und 80 er Jahre-Sound verbinden hier Goth-Style mit Discomusik.

‚In Take Off Everything‘ geht es um die Selbstliebe zum eigenen Körper. Caitlin Stokes:“’Take off Everything‘ haben wir zusammen mit einem Bassisten geschrieben, der die Basslinie geschrieben hat. Er hat auch die Credits. Wir haben alles weitere erarbeitet. Ich wollte, dass es lustig und sexy klingt. ‚Take Off Everything‘ ist bisher einer meiner unbeschwertesten Songs. Wir haben den ganzen Track innerhalb von ein paar Stunden ausgearbeitet, einer dieser Momente, in denen alles super lief.“

‚Never Love‘ ist eine Kooperation mit Chris Harms von ‚Lord Of The Lost‘, die das traurige Thema der gebrochenen Herzen beinhaltet.

‚Lace And Latex‘, ist meiner Meinung nach ein sehr unterschätzter Song. Die eingängigen Gitarrenklänge in Kombination mit elektronischen 80 er Jahre Sound und der erotischen Stimme von Sängerin Cailin Stokes machen ‚Lace and Latex‘ zu einem Favoriten diesen Albums. Für den ein oder anderen dort draußen werden in diesem Track eventuell fetische Neigungen angesprochen.

‚Blood In The Disco‘ ist ein phänomenales Album der Gothic-Szene, das sicher nicht nur Gothic Fans begeistern wird.

Caitlin Stokes didn’t promise me too much in our interview as she mentioned that ‚Blood In the Disco‘ will have some surprises in store. When I heard the first notes of ‚The Taste‘ I knew something big was coming. When you think of gothic, you think at first that it’s not easy to make it danceable without it sounding monotonous. With ‚Blood In The Disco‘ Corlyx (Caitlin Stokes (vocals) and Brandon Ashley (guitar)) has succeeded in creating something unique that is dark, inspires the senses, in some aspects is also sexy and erotic touched and does not lose class.

‚Atrophy‘ stands out as a clear dancefloor classic and will surely animate every dance muffle to move. This is also where the first gothic touch is sprayed and already promises as a forerunner that there will be a lot of fulminant tunes to follow.

‚Echo‘ is the first single from this record and impresses with powerful vocals by Caitlin Stokes in the chorus and 80s elements.

‚Raindrops‘ is a gorgeous song with electronic dance sounds, recorded together with Marc from Massive Ego. Since Massive Ego unfortunately no longer exists, this track is a wonderful memory of the collaboration between Corlyx and Massive Ego.

‚The Taste‘. I think your are really bad‘ sounds out of the speakers. Caitlin Stokes sings these lines provocatively, lasciviously and with style, introducing the song ‚The Taste‘. Dance moves and 80s sound combine goth style with disco music.

‚Take Off Everything‘ is about self-love for your own body. Caitlin: ‚Take off Everything‘ we actually wrote with a bassist who came up with the bass line, he’s got writing credits, and then we built everything else, I wanted it to be fun and sexy, one of my most light hearted songs to date actually. We worked out the whole track in a matter of a few hours, one of those times where everything was flowing great.“

‚Never Love‘ is a collaboration with Chris Harms of ‚Lord Of The Lost‘, featuring the sad theme of broken hearts.

‚Lace And Latex‘, in my opinion, is a very underrated song. The catchy guitar sounds in combination with the electronic 80s sound and the erotic voice of singer Cailin Stokes make ‚Lace and Latex‘ a favourite of this album. For some out there, this track may appeal to fetish inclinations.

‚Blood In The Disco‘ is a phenomenal album of the gothic scene that is sure to delight not only Gothic fans.
