Zwischen sanften Tönen und wilden Riffs: Cam Cole entfesselt den Club Bahnhof Pauli

Cam Cole und Support Act Blue Rose Down begeistern mit Live-Power und unvergesslichen Bühnenpräsenz

Hamburg. Am Dienstag, den 21. Oktober 2025, war es endlich soweit: Cam Cole kam mit seiner The Roaming Blues Wizard Europe Tour in den Club Bahnhof Pauli in Hamburg. Vor einigen Jahren entdeckte ich den One-Man-Band-Musiker Cam Cole in einem Internetvideo, das ihn als Straßenmusiker in London zeigte. Seither sind einige Jahre vergangen, und ich hatte ihn bereits vor Veröffentlichung seines zweiten Albums Crooked Hill interviewen dürfen. Das Interview war ein großer Erfolg. Nun war ich gespannt, ihn endlich live zu erleben, da ich 2023 aus privaten Gründen bei seinem Konzert in Hamburg leider verhindert war.

Um 20 Uhr begann die Show pünktlich mit dem Support-Act Blue Rose Down aus Dänemark. Den Auftakt machte die Single Incandescent aus dem Jahr 2020, gefolgt von Bastard Blues aus dem Album Closer Than Death. Blue Rose Down lässt sich am besten als Blues-Rock mit tiefgründigen, emotionalen Texten beschreiben. Im Gespräch erzählte er mir außerdem, wie er zu seinem Künstlernamen kam:

„Das war eigentlich nicht meine eigene Idee. 2017 haben mein Freund Emil und ich viel Zeit miteinander verbracht, und er hat sich den Namen ausgedacht. Seine Idee war, dass Blue Rose Down die perfekte Beschreibung für die Musik ist: Blue für Blues, Rose für die Liebe, die Menschen zerbricht, und Down, weil ich mich zu dieser Zeit in meinem Leben ziemlich niedergeschlagen fühlte. Eigentlich gefiel mir der Name anfangs nicht, aber mit der Zeit wuchs er mir ans Herz, und ich entschied mich, ihn zu übernehmen.“

Da Blue Rose Down ebenfalls eine One-Man-Band ist, fügte sich sein Sound perfekt in das Gesamtkonzept der Show ein. Der dänische Musiker präsentierte außerdem Songs wie Got Me Low und Aloe aus seinem Album Bastard Blues. Den Abschluss seines Sets bildete Medikation.
Das Publikum im nahezu ausverkauften Club Bahnhof Pauli zeigte sich begeistert, rockte und klatschte mit – ein stimmungsvoller Auftakt des Abends.

Nach einer kurzen Umbaupause betrat Joe Luck the Wandering Owl die Bühne – ähnlich gekleidet wie Cam Cole. Das Bühnenbild erinnerte mit seinen Details an einen kleinen Zirkus, und auch die Outfits fügten sich perfekt in diese Atmosphäre ein. Obwohl Cam Cole als One-Man-Band bekannt ist, zeigt sich gerade live, dass auch ein wenig musikalische Unterstützung ihren Reiz hat – wobei Cam natürlich den Großteil seiner Instrumente selbst spielt.
Als Cam schließlich die Bühne betrat, reichte er fast jedem in der ersten Reihe die Hand – auch mir. Ein kleiner Moment, der viel über ihn aussagt: Er ist bodenständig geblieben und strahlt eine authentische, warmherzige Präsenz aus.

Mit Lonely und New Age Blues begann die Performance, wobei das Publikum von Anfang an aus dem Häuschen war. Cam spielte unter anderem seinen neuen Song Rabbit (She’s What I Want) und mit Fee Fi Foe, Mystic und Tailgate drei bislang unveröffentlichte Tracks, die vermutlich auf seinem vierten Album Lost in Creation erscheinen werden, das voraussichtlich am 20. Februar 2026 veröffentlicht wird. Einer meiner persönlichen Favoriten, Vibes vom dritten Album Unleash, war ebenfalls auf der Setlist. Mit der Ballade Tattoo Rings aus seinem ersten Album I See brachte er ruhigere Töne zum Ausdruck, welche die Seele tief berührten. Zum krönenden Abschluss und energiegeladenen Kontrast gab es gegen 22:45 Uhr den rockige Track F### You Motherf##### aus dem zweiten Album Crooked Hill als Zugabe. Dieser bildete ein kraftvolles Schlusslicht, welches das Konzert mit wahren Adrenalinschub beendete.

Nach der Show herrschte großer Andrang am Merch-Stand, denn Cam Cole und Joe Luck the Wandering Owl nahmen sich Zeit für Autogramme, Merchandise und Fotos. Ich hatte das Vergnügen, Cam nun endlich auch persönlich kennenzulernen, nachdem ich ihn bereits im Oktober 2020 über die Entfernung England–Deutschland interviewt hatte.

Wer Blues Rock liebt – oder auch mal härtere Töne zu schätzen weiß – sollte Cam Cole und Blue Rose Down auf jeden Fall in seine Playlist aufnehmen.

Between gentle tones and wild riffs: Cam Cole unleashes Club Bahnhof Pauli

Cam Cole and support act Blue Rose Down thrill audiences with their live energy and unforgettable stage presence

Hamburg. On Tuesday, 21 October 2025, the time had finally come: Cam Cole arrived at Club Bahnhof Pauli in Hamburg with his The Roaming Blues Wizard Europe Tour. A few years ago, I discovered one-man band musician Cam Cole in an internet video that showed him busking in London. Several years have passed since then, and I had already had the opportunity to interview him before the release of his second album, Crooked Hill. The interview was a great success. Now I was excited to finally see him live, as I was unfortunately unable to attend his concert in Hamburg in 2023 for personal reasons.

The show started punctually at 8 p.m. with the support act Blue Rose Down from Denmark. He kicked off with the 2020 single Incandescent, followed by Bastard Blues from the album Closer Than Death. Blue Rose Down can best be described as blues rock with profound, emotional lyrics. During our conversation, he also told me how he came up with his stage name:

„It wasn’t actually my idea. In 2017, my friend Emil and I spent a lot of time together, and he came up with the name. His idea was that Blue Rose Down was the perfect description for the music: Blue for blues, Rose for the love that breaks people, and Down because I was feeling pretty down at that point in my life. I didn’t really like the name at first, but over time it grew on me, and I decided to go with it.“

Since Blue Rose Down is also a one-man band, his sound fit perfectly into the overall concept of the show. The Danish musician also presented songs such as Got Me Low and Aloe from his album Bastard Blues. Medikation rounded off his set. The audience in the almost sold-out Club Bahnhof Pauli was enthusiastic, rocking and clapping along – an atmospheric start to the evening.

After a short break for set changes, Joe Luck the Wandering Owl took to the stage – dressed similarly to Cam Cole. The stage design was reminiscent of a small circus, and the outfits also fit perfectly into this atmosphere. Although Cam Cole is known as a one-man band, it’s clear when you see him live that a little musical support has its charm – although Cam plays most of the instruments himself, of course. When Cam finally took to the stage, he shook hands with almost everyone in the front row – including me. It was a small moment that said a lot about him: he has remained down-to-earth and exudes an authentic, warm-hearted presence.

The performance began with Lonely and New Age Blues, and the audience was ecstatic from the start. Among other songs, Cam played his new song Rabbit (She’s What I Want) and three previously unreleased tracks, Fee Fi Foe, Mystic and Tailgate, which will probably appear on his fourth album Lost in Creation, scheduled for release on 20 February 2026. One of my personal favourites, Vibes from his third album Unleash, was also on the set list. With the ballad Tattoo Rings from his first album I See, he expressed quieter tones that touched the soul deeply. As a grand finale and energetic contrast, at around 10:45 p.m. he played the rock track F### You Motherf##### from his second album Crooked Hill as an encore. This was a powerful finale that ended the concert with a real adrenaline rush.

After the show, there was a big crowd at the merch stand, as Cam Cole and Joe Luck the Wandering Owl took time to sign autographs, sell merchandise and pose for photos. I finally had the pleasure of meeting Cam in person, having already interviewed him about the distance between England and Germany in October 2020.

If you love blues rock – or appreciate harder sounds from time to time – you should definitely add Cam Cole and Blue Rose Down to your playlist.
