Das Norweger Trio aus Oslo bestehend aus Stian Krogh (lead vocals, guitar), Torkjell Hagen Voll (bass, background vocals) (vorher: Morten Nilsen) und Petter Haukaas (drums) bringt mit „Rock And Roll Hearts“ nach „When Life Gets You“ und „Keep It Real“ ihr bereits drittes Album auf den Markt. Produziert, gemixt und gemastert wurde diese von Fredrik Nordström im Studio Fredman in Schweden. Sänger und Gitarrist Stian Krogh spielte zuvor E-Gitarre bei norwegischen Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Band „The Carburetors“. Torkjell Hagen Voll war vormals der Bassist der Heavy Metal Band „Wail“. Der Opener „Heads Down“ erinnert an Motörhead und ist mit zwei Minuten und 28 Sekunden zwar nicht besonders lang, hat aber ein außerordentliches Tempo, das einen sofort mitreißt. Stian Koghs rauhe Stimme, das Gitarrensolo und die Double-Bass-Drum Einlagen von Petter Haukaas machen diesen Track zum absoluten Highlight. Der Titeltrack „Rock And Roll Hearts“ startet explosiv und vereint Rock ’n Roll, Punk mit einem Hauch von Metal. „Forever“ beinhaltet ein erstklassiges Zusammenspiel zwischen Gitarre und Bass und gipfelt sich in harte, schnelle Drum Beats.  In  „I Play My Guitar When I Want“ kommen Klavierklänge zum Einsatz. Die Scheibe geht ab, wie eine Rakete und stimmt bis zum Schluß auch keine ruhigen Töne an. Eine Überraschung ist das „Nena“ Cover „99 Luftballons“, in dem Stian Krogh auf deutsch singt. Solltet ihr Pain City noch nicht live erlebt haben, solltet ihr das schnellstens nachholen. Denn die Songs rocken live noch stärker, als auf der Platte.

The Norwegian trio from Oslo consisting of Stian Krogh (lead vocals, guitar), Torkjell Hagen Voll (bass, background vocals) (before: Morten Nilsen) and Petter Haukaas (drums) is releasing their third album „Rock And Roll Hearts“ after „When Life Gets You“ and „Keep It Real“. It was produced, mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman in Sweden. Singer and guitarist Stian Krogh previously played electric guitar with Norwegian Hard Rock & Heavy Metal band „The Carburetors“. Torkjell Hagen Voll was formerly the bassist of the heavy metal band „Wail“. The opener „Heads Down“ is reminding of Motörhead and with two minutes and 28 seconds it’s not very long, but it has an extraordinary tempo, that immediately carries you away. Stian Cogh’s rough voice, the guitar solo and the double bass drum interludes by Petter Haukaas make this track an absolute highlight. The title track „Rock And Roll Hearts“ starts explosive and combines rock ’n roll, punk with a touch of metal. „Forever“ contains a first-class interplay between guitar and bass and culminates in hard, fast drum beats.  In „I Play My Guitar When I Want“ piano sounds come into play. The disc goes off like a rocket and doesn’t tune in any calm tones until the end. A surprise is the „Nena“ cover „99 Luftballons“ in which Stian Krogh sings in German. If you haven’t experienced „Pain City“ live yet, you should do so as soon as possible. Because the songs rock live even stronger than on the record.
