Release date: October 17th 2025
Genre: doom punk / genre-fluid
Label: self-released

rabbit/hole, the first single from sharpened.lives new musical chapter, will be released on the 17th of October 2025 — an angry, desperate cry against the systematic dehumanisation of our time.
Originally written about the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, the song can also be applied to other humanitarian disasters such as those in Congo or Sudan. From the perspective of a powerless rebel, rabbit/hole describes the despair, anger and the feeling of being powerless in the face of violence, political hypocrisy and greed.
In a world where atrocities are streamed live on our mobile phones and activists are criminalised for their resistance, this song is an urgent wake-up call — a call to demand responsibility, to live in solidarity and to stand up against the machinery of war, capitalism and fascist ideology.
rabbit/hole marks the beginning of the doompunk universe — the first chapter of the upcoming full-length album, scheduled for release in summer 2026.

Lyrics
rabbit/hole:
Sunk deep into the rabbit/hole
Knowing where we stand
But we’re all far too gullible
To treat the wound by hand
Truth be told I really think we’ve lost the plot
Raise a fist and hope is all we got
There’s a colourful intermission
That won’t judge your indecision
Unless you speak
Our words are all we need
Sunk deep into the rabbit/hole
Knowing where we stand
But we’re all far too gullible
To treat the wound by hand
I’ve felt pain for love and rage for joy
Like bullets in the sand
But our higher ups are playing coy
For answers they had planned
Fuck war machines
Our words are all we need
When all they do is plant the seed
Sunk deep into the rabbit/hole
Knowing where we stand
But we’re all far too gullible
To treat the wound by hand
I’ve felt pain for love and rage for joy
Like bullets in the sand
But our higher ups are playing coy
For answers they had planned
Raining down
Sunk deep into the rabbit/hole
Knowing where we stand
But we’re all far too gullible
To treat the wound by hand
I’ve felt pain for love and rage for joy
Like bullets in the sand
But our higher ups are playing coy
For answers they had planned
White phosphorous from overhead
Raining down
Free Palestine
