Back to the Beginning

On 5 July 2025, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath played their final concert in Birmingham. Among others, well-known artists such as Pantera, Alice in Chains and Metallica participated.

Birmingham. 5 July 2025 was probably the most emotional day ever for every rock and metal fan. For me too. Black Sabbath is one of my favourite bands and so it goes without saying that I followed the whole Back to the Beginning event online, as the ticket prices were in the higher price segment and also sold out quickly. It was also a journey back to my beginnings for me. Because when I think back, the music my father listened to back then had a huge impact on me. My father is a metalhead and had a lot of records by Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, among others. I can still remember the sounds from my early childhood and that I even danced and rocked along to them with sunglasses on. My mother also always enjoyed listening to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. My parents saw Ozzy on Monsters of Rock in the 80s. To be honest, I’m a bit jealous of that. Music had a huge impact on me and it also paved the way for many artists and bands. Who knows if I would be a freelance music journalist today if I hadn’t been surrounded by the sounds of Black Sabbath and Ozzy back then? Birmingham. Der 5. Juli 2025 war wahrscheinlich der emotionalste Tag aller Zeiten für jeden Rock- und Metal-Fan. Auch für mich. Black Sabbath ist eine meiner Lieblingsbands, daher habe ich selbstverständlich das gesamte „Back to the Beginning”- Event online verfolgt, da die Ticketpreise im höheren Preissegment lagen und auch schnell ausverkauft waren. Auch für mich war es eine Reise zurück zu meinen Anfängen. Denn wenn ich zurückdenke, hatte die Musik, die mein Vater damals hörte, einen großen Einfluss auf mich. Mein Vater ist Metalhead und hatte unter anderem viele Platten von Black Sabbath und Ozzy Osbourne. Ich kann mich noch gut an die Klänge aus meiner frühen Kindheit erinnern und daran, dass ich sogar mit Sonnenbrille dazu getanzt und gerockt habe. Auch meine Mutter hörte gerne Black Sabbath und Ozzy Osbourne. Meine Eltern haben Ozzy in den 80er Jahren bei Monsters of Rock gesehen. Ehrlich gesagt bin ich ein bisschen neidisch darauf. Seine Musik hatte einen großen Einfluss auf mich und ebnete auch vielen Künstlern und Bands den Weg. Wer weiß, ob ich heute freiberufliche Musikjournalistin wäre, wenn ich damals nicht von den Klängen von Black Sabbath und Ozzy umgeben gewesen wäre?
