Cam Cole habe ich vor einigen Jahren in den sozialen Medien entdeckt, als er als One-Man-Band in den Straßen Londons spielte und die Menschen begeisterte. Mittlerweile tourt er um die ganze Welt und bringt die Massen zum Rocken und Ausflippen. Seine Tourneen durch Großbritannien, Europa, USA, Kanada und Mexiko sind restlos ausverkauft. Cam Cole hat eine stetig wachsende Fanbase und Millionen Klicks auf Streaming-Plattformen.
Zehn brandneue Tracks, live aufgenommen in den legendären Rockfield Studios in Wales, wo sich bereits Größen wie Black Sabbath und Oasis die Klinke in die Hand gaben. Cam geht mit dem, was man mit einer Gitarre und ein paar Farmer Fußtrommeln machen kann, weiter als irgendjemand vor ihm. Zudem war das Produktionsteam der Meinung nur mit gelegentlichen Gitarrendoppelspuren und Gesangsharmonien zu arbeiten, da es die Songs bereicherte.
Die 40 minütige Reise beginnt mit den dreckigen bluesigen Riffs von Truth Be Told, die beächtlich ab 2:06 an Tempo zulegt und auch etwas dem Stoner Rock zuzuordnen ist. Weiter gehts mit einer meiner persönlichen Favouriten aus dem Album Unleash, welche auch gleichzeitig eine Singleauskopplung ist – nämlich Vibes. Verzerrte Gitarrenakkorde und eine klare Gesangstimme von Cole geben hier den Ton an. Der Stil lässt sich wieder in die bluesige Richtung einorden, wobei es diesmal mehr in die Hard-Rock und Stoner-Rock Richtung geht. Das besondere Markenzeichen dieses Songs ist, dass der Beat nicht nur durch die Fußtrommeln angegeben wird, sondern auch durch eine Cowbell. Wer sind jetzt denken mag: sowas kann doch ganz und gar nicht funktionieren und nach etwas klingen, der täuscht. Es klingt einfach phänomenal genial.
I Just Don’t Seek Please hat Southern Rock Blues in seinem Songblut und entfaltet sein volles Potential erst zum Ende hin.
Freedom erinnert mit seinen Riffs etwas an den Vorgängertrack Vibes, obwohl die Akkorde deutlich eine Spur härter und schneller in der Abfolge sind. Ein weiterer Indikator ist auch hier wieder die Cowbell, die den Beat angibt. Metal und Süd- Staaten Blues werden hier zu einem heißen musikalischen Gemisch.
Look Into the Moon ist eine wundervolle ans Herz gehende Ballade. Wie ich in meiner Rezension zu Cams vorherigem Album ‚Crooked Hill‘ schon erwähnte, seine Stimme und Musik berühren meine Seele und meine Gefühlswelt. Und das schafft wahrlich nicht jeder Künstler.
So Alive hat ein 1:28 minütiges sanftmütiges Intro bis das Lied erst richtig an Fahrt aufnimmt. Ein feuriger Hard-Rock-Kracher ideal geeignet für Biker Touren.
Know What I Mean orientiert sich mit seinen Klängen leicht an der Single Vibes. Allerdings bringt dieser Track noch schwerlastigere Akkorde als Vibes und Freedom hervor.
Der Haupttrack thes Albums Unleash ist ein Hörgenuss für sich. Nu-Metal Elemente sind zu hören und auch an Härte und Tempo ist Unleash ein absoluter Spitzenreiter.
Slave to the Breaks ist genau so ein Kandidat, der wieder durch verzerrte Akkorde glänzt und in Nu-Metal Welten eintauchen lässt. Cams Gesang wechselt zwischen verzerrt nach klar.
Home ist mit 7:59 der längste Track der Platte. Home beginnt mit ruhigen Klängen und klarem Gesang und prescht bei 2:06 richtig los und zeigt sein wahres Gesicht. Ein absoluter Headbanger und man kann vereinzelnd AC/DC Klänge heraushören. An 4:03 wechselt Home wieder in einen ruhigeren Modus bis er sich ab 4:42 letztendlich vollkommen entlädt und seine volle Dynamik ausschöpft.
Dieser junge Mann wird uns, denke ich, auch in den kommenden Jahren weiterhin mit seiner Musik begeistern und verzaubern. Cam Cole ist ein wahres Multitalent und sicher auch für viele Musiker ein Vorbild. Er begann als Straßenmusiker und spielt nun auf den großen Bühnen dieser Welt.

I discovered Cam Cole on social media a few years ago when he was playing as a one-man band on the streets of London and wowing people. He now tours all over the world and gets the crowds rocking and freaking out. His tours of the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and Mexico are completely sold out. Cam Cole has a steadily growing fan base and millions of clicks on streaming platforms.
Ten brand new tracks, recorded live at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales, where greats such as Black Sabbath and Oasis have played. Cam goes further than anyone before him with what you can do with a guitar and some farmer’s foot drums. The production team felt the need to work only with occasional guitar double tracks and vocal harmonies because that would enriched the songs.
The 40 minute journey begins with the dirty bluesy riffs of Truth Be Told, which picks up speed at 2:06 and can also be categorised as stoner rock. We continue with one of my personal favourites from the album Unleash, which is also a single release – namely Vibes. Distorted guitar chords and a clear vocal from Cole set the tone here. The style can again be categorised in the bluesy direction, although this time it goes more in the hard rock ans stoner rock direction. The special trademark of this song is that the beat is not only provided by the foot drums, but also by a cowbell. Anyone, who thinks that this can’t possibly work and sound like anything, is mistaken. It simply sounds phenomenally brilliant.
I Just Don’t Seek Please has Southern Rock Blues in its song blood and only unfolds its full potential towards the end.
Freedom’s riffs are somewhat reminiscent of the previous track Vibes, although the chords are clearly a touch harder and faster in the sequence. Another indicator here is the cowbell, which sets the beat. Metal and southern blues become a hot musical mixture here.
Look Into the Moon is a wonderful heartfelt ballad. As I mentioned in my review of Cam’s previous album Crooked Hill, his voice and music touch my soul and my emotional world. And not every artist can do that.
So Alive has a 1:28 minute mellow intro until the song really picks up speed. A fiery hard rock cracker ideal for biker tours.
The sounds of Know What I Mean are slightly reminiscent of the single Vibes. However, this track produces even heavier chords than Vibes and Freedom.
The main track of the album Unleash is a listening pleasure in itself. Nu-metal elements can be heard and Unleash is also an absolute front-runner in terms of heaviness and tempo.
Slave to the Breaks is just such a candidate, which again shines with distorted chords and immerses the listener in nu-metal worlds. Cam’s vocals alternate between distorted and clear.
At 7:59, Home is the longest track on the record. Home begins with calm sounds and clear vocals and really kicks off at 2:06 and shows its true colours. An absolute headbanger and you can hear the occasional AC/DC sound. At 4:03, Home switches back to a calmer mode until he finally unloads completely at 4:42 and utilises his full dynamics.
I think this young man will continue to inspire and enchant us with his music in the years to come. Cam Cole is a true multi-talent and certainly a role model for many musicians. He started out as a street musician and now plays on the world’s biggest stages.
